San Francisco Bike Storage Facility To Increase Hours

Warm Planet Bikes, the operator of the bike storage facility at Caltrain’s San Francisco station, is opening at 6:45 a.m. to accommodate riders who want to board southbound train 312, which leaves at 6:59 a.m.

The change was made in response to recent increases in ridership. Approximately 2,400 customers bring their bikes onboard the trains; however, peak-commute trains have reach capacity.

Average weekday ridership in May was 41,890, the highest ever posted by the 145-year-old railroad, and 12 percent higher than May 2007.

Bike parking is free of charge at the facility, which is located next to the downtown station. The shop also does bike repairs and sells bikes, folding bikes and accessories.
