Caltrain To Run Special Service On July Fourth
Caltrain will operate a Sunday schedule on Independence Day but will add extra trains to get people to the Giants/Dodgers game at AT&T Park, as well as after the fireworks show in San Francisco.
A special train will depart from the San Jose Diridon station at 10:20 a.m., making local stops before arriving in San Francisco by noon.
After the game, two special trains will depart from San Francisco for the return trip. An express train to San Carlos leaves approximately 15 minutes after the last out, or when full, and then makes all locals stops after San Carlos to the San Jose Diridon station. The second train departs San Francisco 25 minutes after the game, or when full, and serves all local stops to San Jose Diridon.
Caltrain riders headed to the San Francisco fireworks show at Pier 39 can transfer to the Muni Metro system, across the street from the San Francisco Caltrain Station, and take Muni to the Embarcadero station. From there, transfer to Muni’s F-Line at street level. The F-Line is Muni’s historic trolley car line that runs along Market street and along the Embarcadero to the festival site.
After the fireworks are over, three extra trains will depart San Francisco. An express train to San Carlos leaves at 11 p.m., and then makes all local weekend stops after San Carlos to the San Jose Diridon station. Two more trains will leave at 11:15 p.m. and midnight and make all local weekend stops to the San Jose Diridon station.
Caltrain is a Proof-of-Payment system and valid fare media must be purchased before boarding the train. Tickets can be purchased at vending machines at all stations or from the station agents at the San Francisco or San Jose stations.
Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on trains beginning at 9 p.m.
