Caltrain values bicycle commuters. That's why Caltrain has
the most extensive bicycle access program among passenger
railroads in the nation. The program has been so successful
that Caltrain often receives requests to accommodate more
bicycles.
Caltrain faces many
challenges involved in providing on-board bike capacity still exist.
Unfortunately, adding bike capacity to trains is difficult and costly.
Still, Caltrain works hard to stretch its limited resources to
accommodate passengers with bikes. For example, it offers
bicycle storage at the majority of its stations. Further,
Caltrain will be undertaking a study to examine a wider range
of things we can do to take a comprehensive approach to serving
our bicycling customers, including better coordinating all the
services we provide and improving on our active bike locker and
bike storage programs and expanding our bike station and bike
shelter programs.
